In their own words
Robert W.
Retired, British expat β Chiang Mai
I'd been putting off looking at my pension papers for about two years. Not because they were complicated β in fact, after the session, they turned out to be fairly simple. I just hadn't had anyone to sit with me and go through them without an agenda. Margaret was calm and thorough, and I left actually understanding what I had. The written summary she sent the next day was a nice touch.

French national, long-term Chiang Mai resident
My documents came from France and Australia, and I'd been unsure where to even begin. The Records Review course gave me a system that actually works across both countries. Thomas was patient and didn't make me feel silly for not already knowing how to organise them. The templates are straightforward and I've already recommended the course to my sister.

David & Mary M.
Australian couple, semi-retired
We did the Family Continuity Programme together and brought our adult daughter to two of the sessions. It's the first time all three of us have been on the same page about where everything is. Our daughter lives in Brisbane and she now has a clear picture of what we hold and what she'd need to do to access it if something happened. That peace of mind is worth more than we expected.

German national, retired engineer
I was sceptical going in. I assumed I could just read the documents myself β which I can β but I'd been delaying it for over a year. The Clarity Session was useful not because of anything I couldn't have worked out eventually, but because having another person in the room made me actually do it. Thomas asked good questions and pointed out one letter I'd overlooked entirely.

Janet T.
British, recently widowed β Chiang Mai
After my husband passed, I had a box of pension papers that were completely unfamiliar to me. He'd managed everything. I came to Aurelane not knowing what I was looking at or what I needed to do next. The session didn't tell me what to do β that's not what they offer β but it told me clearly what each document was and helped me understand what questions I should be asking my accountant. That was exactly what I needed.

Peter & Noi N.
British-Thai couple, Chiang Mai
We did the Records Review together so my wife could understand the UK documents. The team at Aurelane were thoughtful about explaining things in a way that didn't assume prior familiarity with the British pension system. The templates have been genuinely useful β we've since added our property documents and insurance papers to the same system.

Longer journeys, in detail
Graham & Frances F.
British couple, retired β Chiang Mai since 2018
The Challenge
Graham had two UK pensions, a private scheme, and a set of NHS letters going back twelve years. Frances had a teachers' pension she'd deferred. Neither of them was certain which papers were current, which were outdated, and which required attention.
The Programme
They enrolled in the Family Continuity Programme over 8 weeks. Sessions moved between sorting and understanding, with time spent explaining the difference between active and deferred pension documents, and what each category meant for their situation in practical terms.
The Outcome
By the end of 6 sessions, all documents had been labelled, sorted into three categories, and stored in a system both could navigate. Graham reported that a follow-up call with his UK pension provider went much more smoothly than expected because he finally knew what he was asking about.
"We should have done this years ago. It took one afternoon a fortnight for two months, and now we both know exactly where we stand." β Graham F.
Lena M.
German national, 61, moving towards retirement
The Challenge
Lena had pension contributions from Germany, a partial working period in the Netherlands, and a small private policy she'd taken out in her thirties and almost forgotten about. The paperwork spanned three countries and thirty years.
The Programme
She booked the Records Review & Labelling Course. The two sessions focused on identifying what she actually had (sorting out current vs. outdated statements), explaining what each document type typically represents, and building a digital and physical filing system she could maintain from Chiang Mai.
The Outcome
Lena left with all documents categorised and labelled, a folder index she printed at home, and a clear list of the types of questions she wanted to raise with a German pensions advisor. The private policy, it turned out, needed a simple annual confirmation she hadn't been sending β something she was able to resolve within a week.
"I felt embarrassed that I'd left it so long. But the session was entirely without judgement, and by the end I had a proper system." β Lena M.
Alan K.
Australian, 68, managing his late wife's paperwork
The Challenge
Alan came to us six months after his wife passed. She had managed a small superannuation account, a part-pension from the Australian government, and some documents from her work years that Alan had never seen. He didn't know what was still active or what he needed to do.
The Programme
He started with a single Clarity Session, which helped identify what documents were relevant and which were historical. A follow-up session (at his request) went deeper into the superannuation statements. Aurelane did not advise on next steps, but helped Alan understand what each document described so he could have an informed conversation with an Australian-based accountant.
The Outcome
Alan described the sessions as "the first time I felt like I was standing on solid ground" with the paperwork. He subsequently arranged a video call with an accountant in Perth, and the accountant later told him he'd come to the call unusually well-prepared.
"It was a practical, quiet, helpful couple of hours. That's all I needed at that point β to understand what I was looking at." β Alan K.
